Moscow Mule — Despite its name, the Moscow Mule was created in Los Angeles in 1941. The drink is most commonly linked to John Martin, who was promoting Smirnoff vodka, and Jack Morgan, who wanted to move his ginger beer at the Cock ’n’ Bull pub. Served in its now-famous copper mug, the cocktail helped introduce vodka to a wider American audience and became a mid-century classic. Some details of the exact origin are disputed, but the 1941 Los Angeles story is the standard account.
